Right on time for MIDEM in Cannes, Hänssler Profil not only has a newly designed internet presence but also a number of new releases out just in time for the world's greatest and most highly respected classical music convention.

The cooperation between PROFIL and FIGARO, the arts channel of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), has borne new fruit.

The EDITION STAATSKAPELLE DRESDEN now has two more CDs comprising highlights of public concerts by the long-established orchestra. For the first time, live recordings featuring Herbert Blomstedt are appearing in this series. On CD No. PH 07003, Max Reger's Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Mozart are coupled with Schumann's Concert Piece for four horns in F, Carl Maria von Weber's Oberon Overture and Johann Gottlieb Naumann's ”Te Deum” for choir and orchestra. The radio recordings were made at concerts held in 1989 and 1990.

CD No. PH 07011 introduces Bernard Haitink to a series that has been warmly acclaimed around the world. PROFIL presents the MDR recording of Anton Bruckner's Sixth Symphony from November 2, 2003.

Back in 2006, preparations were already being made for further releases. In house, there are already definite plans for releases up to Volume 50 and beyond, producer Günter Hänssler reveals. Many leading conductors of recent years will be featured. Personalities like Sir Colin Davis, Bernard Haitink, Herbert Blomstedt and the widow of Giuseppe Sinopoli, whose untimely death shocked the music world, have expressed their enthusiasm for the series and ensured the release of further recordings. Negotiations are in progress with more maestros. Giuseppe Sinopoli will soon be enriching the edition with the first release of his interpretation of Gustav Mahler's 9th Symphony and Richard Strauss's ”Death and Transfiguration”. Planned as Vol. 17, the CD will be released in the spring of 2007 as PH 07004.

The Edition will also be enhanced by a number of unique historical recordings, going back as far as the Fritz Busch era in the 1920s. Some of these CDs will be accompanied by DVDs containing rare and precious film footage presented for the first time in newly recreated digital sound and imaging.

The latest releases by the Klenke Quartet have created quite a furore. The young ensemble is now one of the rising talents on the international chamber music scene. The latest press reviews are united in their praise of the quartet. All in all, an impressive achievement, which gives producer Günter Hänssler good cause to look back with satisfaction on how much has been done to establish the ensemble in a mere three years.
